Teen Youth Programs

Swim Lessons

 

Beginners 4 years & up:

Teaches children who are prepared to handle a 30-minute class without a parent or guardian the basics of swimming. Children will float, glide, bob and begin learning the proper arm and leg movements required for normal swimming.

Intermediate 4 years & up:

Intermediate swimmers should have a grasp on freestyle and backstroke. Intermediate class will improve the swimmer in freestyle and backstroke and teach new strokes. The intermediate class offers stroke refinement to swimmers not yet ready for lap swimming.

Private Swim Lessons:

Youth or adults wishing to improve their swimming skills. 30-minute private sessions with a certified instructor.

Join your friends at the YMCA and dance the night away! Enjoy your favorite music, games, and concessions!

Friday Night Dodgeball

If the winter weather has you down and you can’t find anything to do in town, join us at the Y for some fast moving fun! Kids are grouped with K-4th grade, and 5th-8th grade.

Home School Program

This program is designed to give home-schooled children, ages 7-18, a chance to join together for physical education and camaraderie.

SafeHaven

This unique program, funded by the Logan County United Way, reaches Middle School aged children who may not have the opportunity to participate at the YMCA. Organized activities, snacks and the four core vales of the Y will be implemented. Transportation is provided (3:45-4:00PM at Methodist Church) to and from the YMCA.

Youth Strength Training

For 12 and 13 year olds who are ready to use the Wellness Center. Upon completing a 4 class series and passing a basic test over the materials covered in class, your child will earn a Wellness Center Privilege card. This card will allow them access to the wellness center during privilege hours. Hours will vary by season

Flag Football

This program is designed to teach kids the basic fundamentals and rules of football through active participation with an appreciation for competition and sportsmanship. The league is co-ed for 5th and 6th graders.

Lifeguard Certification Course:

Upon completion, each Lifeguard Candidate will receive the following certifications: Lifeguard/First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.

*These certifications are required for employment as a lifeguard.

*Must be 15 yrs. old to take training

Middle School Volleyball

Improve your volleyball skills with quality practices, instruction and gameplay. THis program is for both boys and girls.

 

New Year’s Eve Overnight

Are you looking for a safe place for your kids on New Years Eve? The Hilliker YMCA will be hosting a New Years Eve Overnight for kids ages 8–14. The kids will have the best night ever! There will be tons of games, fun activities, a celebration at midnight to bring in 2010, and open swim for the kids as well. We will provide pizza, snacks, and a continental breakfast before the youngsters leave in the morning. Pillows and sleeping bags, or blanketsare optional but are not provided.
